A series wired pedalboard for Dick Cooper of The Cooper Brothers.
After spending some part of 2012 in the studio with long time Nice Rack client Colin Cripps, Dick Cooper was ready to take the next step in putting together a great sounding, lightweight, tone heavy pedalboard.
One of the more powerful guitar rigs we've ever built. A compact Rack System with a Dynamic MIDI Control Surface, Audio Matrix & MIDI Matrix allowing for Reconfigured Routings Per Preset. This rig is available for studio rentals in the Toronto area. Please contact us for more information.
The audio patch for the system is routed through a Sound Sculpture Switchblade GL 16 x 16 Matrix that can be reconfigured per preset. The local memory in the Switchblade hold 125 presets, with the native programming application storing a total of 1000 presets. The routing possibilities are absolutely infinite in real time, with the mouse driven native software allowing the rig to rerouted via mouse clicks in seconds.
We don't often build rigs for Hurdy Gurdy players, but when we do... We prefer a "Dos Mesa". :-)
This is the first time a Nice Rack shop has ever worked with a Hurdy Gurdy player.
We did a 2 pedalboard system consisting of a onstage "Control" Board and offstage "Effects" Board. We essentially flattened a system that would have required a 8 space rolling rack to house as a rack system. The client needs to transport the rig in a PT Cruiser and be able to load the system himself up or down stairs. We packaged the rig in ultralite welded aluminum rolling cases.
Audio routing is through 3x RJM Music Mini Effects Gizmos for Series Wired Compression, Overdrives, Fuzz, Pitch, POG & Modulations. Parallel Wired Delays & Reverb sum mixed by RJM Mini Line Mixer. Effects Board Output is fed through the Cathedral "master" Reverb and then the Boomerang for live looping. System outputs are fed through Muting Relays and then directly to the Sound System or ProTools.
Control board powered by Voodoo Lab Pedal Power Digital with a Series on two taps to supply 9V @ 800mA to the Boomerang.
Effects Board powered by Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+, 4x4 & Digital.
Thanks to www.Pedalboardlabels.com for the custom label set.
A repeat client of our asked us recently to build him a "Jack White" pedalboard system. Got Loud???

New studio pedalboard system for Kevin Plessner, NYC based Session Player, Studio Engineer & guitarist for shoegazer indie space rock & roll band, Oceanogrpaher http://oceanographermusic.com/

Guitarist Alex Garcia of Mayday Parade wanted to get a new pedalboard together for the band's upcoming tour. With a new record coming out in October lots of touring will follow.
Alex had been using a PedalTrain board in an ATA flight case. The total weight of the board, case & contents was 74 pounds making it a nightmare for checked luggage fly dates.
Annie Clark of St. Vincent recently came into the shop with a list of criteria for a new pedalboard system.
1. Fly as checked luggage, doing lots of fly gigs this year with a new record coming out.
2. End the tap dancing routine and focus on playing guitar, singing and interacting with audience.
3. Must Sound Great
4. Be easy to set up, no full time guitar tech on tour.
A week later Annie picked up her new rig...
